The Trails

With over 800 miles of trails in the Smoky Mountains, finding a great spot on a hike, shouldn’t be a problem. Depending on skill and difficulty level, and of course, how many strangers you want to have around during your hike, be sure to check out trails in advance. Here are great trail suggestions for any skill level.

Views

With the trails, come great views. If you’re looking for a breathtaking view to pop the question you’ve maybe looking into Clingman’s Dome. But here are 8 more to consider like Mt. Cammerer or Mt. LeConte if the view is what will make your proposal soar to new heights.

Waterfalls

What is more romantic than a waterfall? It’s a great excuse to stop, look, and with the noise of the falls she won’t hear the ring box open as you completely take her by surprise. There are about 200 falls located in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park but these are our favorites: Roaring Fork, Laurel Falls, and Ramsey Cascades.

Other Outdoor Ideas

While trying to pull the ring out of your pocket during whitewater rafting or ziplining might not be the best idea, that doesn’t mean you don’t have other outdoor options. What about horseback riding, a hot air balloon ride, or even fishing?

Vineyards, Breweries, or Stills

Maybe you want to pop the question while sampling some of the area’s finest libations. Head on out to a winery, brewery, or distillery and have a great time trying new things together.

Romantic Dinner

This classic will not disappoint – especially with the Smokies as your backdrop, both physically and in your memories together. There are a lot of restaurants that are great in the Smoky Mountains but we personally recommend these.

The Whole Shebang

There’s an air to a proposal. It’s not JUST popping the question, but creating an experience, giving yourselves time to celebrate, and let it sink it.
